AI forecasting tools are helpful, but they're not fortune tellers. Here's where people trip up.
Not Reviewing Confidence Levels
Most systems show confidence scores with predictions. An 85% confidence forecast is very different from a 45% one. Ignoring these scores means treating guesses the same as solid predictions.
Forgetting the AI Doesn't Know Your Plans
Planning to hire three people next quarter? Launching a new product line? The AI has no idea unless you input those changes. It just extends past patterns forward.
Skipping Manual Adjustments
You know your industry better than the algorithm. If you're aware of an upcoming regulation change or market shift, adjust the forecast manually. The system learns from history, not future events.
Setting It and Forgetting It
Check forecasts weekly, especially early on. If predictions drift from reality, you need to update your inputs or retrain the model with better parameters.
